Buying Guide: How To Switch Mobile Phone Providers
Are you fed up with the mobile phone service that you're getting? Found a better deal elsewhere? Then switch mobile phone providers -- here's how! Many people are realising that they could get a better deal if they switched. As network providers are constantly competing with each other for our business, new deals are appearing by the day which means more choice for customers and more chance of us switching. Even if you think you have the best deal around, the chances are another company will be offering a better one. So how do we switch and is it worth the hassle? Deciding whether to switch It is always best to shop around when your contract is near its end (if you are on PAYG, then you can go ahead and switch whenever you want!) because deals spring up constantly and you may find a better deal is round the corner. Making a note of the deals available will help you save money for one simple reason; when you inform your provider that you are switching they will try and offer you special deals to try and keep you. Each provider has special "retention teams" ready to offer customers thinking/wanting to leave offers to persuade them to stay. You can compare these deals with those you have found from other providers to see which one is the best. I want to switch! Some companies have a bad reputation for customer service and some customers just want to get away from it all! So whether you have just had enough of being on hold for hours upon hours or you have found a better deal elsewhere, here is what you need to switch. If you are on contract then you will need to see the contract out to avoid having to pay cancellation fees. If, like most people, you want to keep your number when switching you will need to ask your current provider for your PAC code. This is the code you will need to pass over to your new provider in order to keep your number. Some providers will then try some stalling tactics which normally result in them posting your PAC code to you rather than just telling you over the phone. Therefore, request the code a week before the end of your contract so you don't have to be mobile-less for a week or so whilst you wait for the code. Points to note Some companies will try and match any deals offered by a competitor but sometimes they just can't. Remember to request your PAC code if you want to keep your number and always keep an eye out for a better deal. Searching online is the best way to avoid the hassle and stress of trawling from shop to shop. For the best deals on mobile phones visit Moneysupermarket.com.
