How to keep your mobile phone number when you upgrade your phone
So you want to upgrade your mobile phone, but...
you don't want a new mobile phone number
"Can't I keep my existing number, please?"
Yes. Here's what you do:
(A) STAYING WITH SAME MOBILE PHONE PROVIDER
Answer:
- You need to buy a pay-as-you-go phone with with that same provider.
- Then you must telephone customer services let them know about the
new phone. (They will do a transfer of the old number onto the new phone.)
(A) CHANGING MOBILE PHONE PROVIDER
Answer:
If you change providers, you can still keep your number.
- First buy a new pay-as-you-go phone.
- Telephone your old provider and request a PAC code. This has a 30
day expiry.
- Telephone your new provider and give them the PAC code. This
enables them to switch the old number to your new phone.
See. That wasn't difficult was it.
So you have absolutely no excuse not to upgrade that mobile phone
